If you require emergency dental care when your dentist surgery is closed (5:00pm - 9:00am, weekends and Bank Holidays) you can contact Herts Urgent Dental Care on 03000 33 32 24.
Herts Urgent Dental Care is an independent organisation which engages local dentists to provide out-of-hours dental services to the people of Hertfordshire.
When you telephone, your call will be answered by a call-handler who will ask you to provide your personal details such as name address and telephone number, and you will also be asked about your problem. You will then be contacted and assessed by a qualified dental nurse or dentist who will discuss your symptoms with you.
The dental clinician will decide on whether your problem can be resolved by you with advice and if necessary over-the-counter medication, or whether you need to be seen by a dentist urgently.
If it is decided you require a dentist urgently, your details will be forwarded on to the duty dentist, who will then contact you to arrange an appointment.
The location of the appointments varies but will be within Hertfordshire, and at weekends will be within your local area. You will be asked to make your way to the duty dentist’s surgery, and they can help you with directions.
If you are unable to see the duty dentist or there is not one available, Herts Urgent Dental Care may ask you to see a dentist the following day within normal opening hours (9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday). We will support you in finding a dentist who has emergency access appointments to ensure you can be seen within 24 hours.
If you require an appointment and are not exempt from NHS dental charges it will be necessary to pay an NHS fee of approximately £16.00 at the time of your appointment.
If your problem can be resolved with advice and self-care, there is no cost for using the service.
You can expect to receive urgent dental treatment from a dentist within 24-48 hours of contacting Herts Urgent Dental Care if it is deemed necessary.
You can expect to be contacted by a dental clinician within 60 minutes of contacting Herts Urgent Dental Care.
